The kick-off meeting of the PEGASUS Project – Addressing the Gender Pension in Greece – was held yesterday, Thursday, November 29, at the premises of the General Secretariat for Gender Equality (GSGE).

The Project, co-funded by the EU’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Program (REC-RGEN-PENS-AG-2017) has a duration of 2 years. GSGE is the Coordinator of the Project and the National Center for Social Research (EKKE) and the Center for Research on Gender Equality (KETHI) are the other two Project’s Partners.

The Project’s objectives are: the development of effective policy proposals to address gender pension gaps, raising awareness and informing women and men on the impact of different career choices on their pension, highlighting the issue as a matter of policy priority and seeking for the active involvement and engagement of all competent organizations and bodies. Towards those objectives, actions such as the analysis of the main determinants of the gap, the mapping and assessment of existing good practices, exchange of good practices and stakeholder consultation, the development of an on-line “computerization”, the awareness campaign in wage retirement gap, etc, are included.

Members of the GSGE, EKKE and KETHI Project working groups Working Groups participated at the meeting, in which the Work Packages and the activities that the Partners will develop in the framework of the Project were presented and operational and organisational issues were discussed. Moreover, both the partners’ conviction in the necessity of the Project and their commitment for close cooperation and effective implementation and monitoring of the activities were confirmed.
